WATCH: Erika Kirk Shares Heartbreaking Account Of Moments After Charlie Was Shot

While speaking with Fox News, Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk shared a heartbreaking account of the moment she arrived at the hospital after her husband and the organization’s founder, Charlie had been fatally shot while speaking with college students at Utah Valley University on September 10.

Host Jesse Watters asked Kirk about the moment she was informed that Charlie had been shot on September 10. She recalled that she was at her mother’s doctors appointment and had just seen the video of Charlie tossing out hats to the packed crowds just before the event had started.

“And I said, Mom, look, it started. So we saw the hats being flung. I put my phone down, and it was on silent. So I had no reason to look back at it,” she said. At that point, she started to receive calls from TPUSA’s Mikey McCoy about what had just unfolded.

“And so Mikey called me, and I’ll never forget him just being like, ‘Charlie’s been shot. He’s been shot, get the kids. Get security, get the kids, he’s been shot.’ I sprinted out of her treatment center, just collapsed in the middle of the parking lot, called our security. Unbelievable nightmare,” Kirk recalled.

Upon arriving at the hospital, she was informed that Charlie’s wounds were fatal and that he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“I never saw the video, I never will see it,” she revealed to Fox News. “I never want to see it, there are certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee. There are certain things you see in your life that mark your soul forever. I don’t want my husband’s public assassination to be something I ever see. I don’t want my kids to ever see that.”

She then recalled that upon arriving at the hospital, she was advised against seeing her husband’s body for the time being by a police officer. “We get into the room. One of the law enforcement guys comes in. He’s very sweet, but what do you say to someone whose husband just was assassinated so publicly? He said, you know, I’ve been doing this for 30 -some years. He said, I will never tell you that you cannot see your husband. He said, but I, in my professional opinion, think that you should wait to see him once he’s at the mortuary, because I don’t think you want to see him like this,” Kirk said.

At that point, the room got noticeably quiet, Krik remembered, as half the people in it likely agreed with the officer. “And I responded back to him and I said, ‘with all due respect, sir,’ I said, ‘I want to see what they did to my husband. And I want to give him a kiss, because I didn’t get to give him a kiss this morning.’  And I said the same thing to the doctor. When the doctor came in, I said, ‘I want to see my husband.”

Later in the interview, Kirk was asked on her thoughts regarding the presence of cameras in the courtroom during the murder trial of her husband’s suspected killer. Tyler Robinson, 21, is set to face capital murder charges after allegedly admitting to assassinating Kirk due to his “hateful” views on transgenderism.

Robinson, who was gay, was living with a male transgender-identifying romantic partner at the time of the killing.

“We deserve to have cameras in there. Why not be transparent?” Kirk asked.

“There’s nothing to hide. I know there’s not because I’ve seen what the case is built on. Let everyone see what true evil is. This is something that could impact a generation and generations to come.”
